Guard your words!

ree

Walking out of 2022 into 2023, it is very important to be VERY mindful of your words and to think before you speak. The words you speak today have a lasting impact on your future.

Proverbs 13:3 says “Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives; those who open wide their lips come to ruin.”

Think of all those times you spoke too soon, blocking your own blessings. Conflicts can occur when harsh words are spoken and those issues would have quickly been resolved by using the right choice of words.

For a while, I had a difficult time understanding how someone could be a compulsive liar. They could literally stand in front of you and say, “Hey, that cat is pink,” when it clearly wasn’t but they truly believe it! The thing is the more they spoke/ heard their own words, the more they believed them and live them out.

What are you speaking out of your own mouth?

What are you now adapting into your belief system?

Your words matter more than you think!

“Sticks and stones might break my bones, but words will never hurt me” was the BIGGEST lie told to children. I am still uprooting words spoken over me when I was a child. Words that I came into agreement with it, because I didn’t know any better. Agreeing with someone else’s words is just as dangerous as speaking the words out yourself.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”

EVERY word we speak has power and it’ll determine the direction of our lives. Today is a good day to start taking inventory of your words. Make the DECISION to plant only good seeds with your words.

I’ve been taught to look up the definition of words. When you take the time to do that, you’ll see why using and speaking certain words is damaging.

Pray with me:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for today and fully submit to you. I give You all my thoughts, words, and action. Please help me, Holy Spirit, to speak words of blessing, that edify myself, my spouse, my children, my friends, my family, and those around me. I come out of agreement with any word that does not align with Your will for my life. I want to walk out of 2022 with a new mindset. Break down any belief system that is hindering my growth in you, Lord.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
